Kwesi Appiah CKwesi Appiah expects a different game against Congo on Friday
Ghana’s head coach James Kwesi Appiah has expressed his confidence in the squad ahead of Black Stars’ clash with Congo at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Friday.

The Red Devils of Congo are scheduled to arrive in Ghana on Wednesday to face the Black Stars in their third group game of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers on September 1 before hosting Ghana at Stade Municipal de Kintélé in Brazzaville on September 5.

Ghana is placed third in Group E with one point after a draw and a loss to Uganda, Egypt respectively. Egypt leads Group E with six points after earning two wins and will also hope to go further on the top with a third victory over the Cranes who are in the second post, just two points away from the Pharaohs.

“We are confident but not because we beat Congo a few months ago in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). This should just be another motive that pushes us towards another win,” Appiah told Starr Sports.

“Some think that I have all they keys of the Congo team because I beat them before, whoever says that knows nothing about football.

“The upcoming game is different, Congo now have some good players who can make some changes. We know some important details about the Congolese which we will try to benefit from in the game. However, the other side also knows us well and knows our points of weakness. It is a difficult and important game,” Appiah added.

Meanwhile, 22 invited Black Stars players have arrived in camp with the exception of striker Raphael Dwamena and defender Agbenyenu Lumor who are likely to report by the close of today.
