“Rap Ninja” Barima Sydney, famed for his social commentary via such anthems as “Abuskeleke”, “Scent No”, “Obia Nye Obia”, and “Afric Money”, is set to release his 8th solo album this June.

The hiplife veteran, who has been absent from active music for a while, made this known during an interview on Accra-based Zylofon FM Thursday morning, where he officially debuted 3 singles from the album. The records include “Kpee”, “Mmpena Twe Ye De”, and “Guara Guara”.

Born Sidney Ofori, the rapper started out in hiphop collective Native Funk Lords in the early 90s, which he left to form the Nananom group (which also included Omanhene Pozoh, and Jyoti Chandler).

His solo career, which commenced in 2001, has seen him publish multiple chart-topping singles and albums, solidifying his place as a Ghanaian legend. “Tinana” (2001), “Akofna” (2003), “Scent No” (2004),Obia Nye Obia” (2005), and “Barima Bii Ba” (2008) are among his works.

A proven hitmaker, the album, whose title is yet to be revealed, is expected to make major waves upon release.
