Vice president of the Ghana Football Association, George Afriyie says he is the right person to succeed president Kwesi Nyantakyi.

The seasoned football administrator upon celebrating his 50th birthday on Friday disclosed his intention to contest for the Ghana Football Association presidency in 2019.

Kwesi Nyantakyi who is the CAF 1st vice president has disclosed his intentions not to seek re-elections after assuming office in December 2005.

With less than a year to elect a new president to lead football in the country, Mr Afriyie believes the person right man to be president of the Ghana FA.

“I think after serving on the Executive Committee for three terms and the role I have played in this current tenure, I have gained the experience needed as well as gone through the mill to and learnt enough to place me in a position to take over from my boss," he told Graphic Sports.

“Irrespective of the numerous criticisms, I believe this administration under Nyantakyi has achieved a lot and I don’t think anyone is better placed to continue and build on the achievement than my good self."

George Afriyie becomes the second person to openly disclosed his intentions to contest for the Ghana FA Presidency after GHALCA boss, Kudjoe Fianoo also revealed his plans to contest in 2019.
