Wear Ghana MonthWear Ghana month
The National Commission on Culture and Street Fashion Train have declared and set apart the month of March which is our independence month as “Wear Ghana Month”.

This initiative is to promote Ghana’s clothe culture and heritage by encouraging Ghanaians to wear made in Ghana’ clothes and other fashion accessories that are produced locally for both corporate and social functions.

The objective of this programme is to promote our local textile industry and reward creativity in Ghana’s fashion industrywith the aim of bringing our Ghanaian cultural heritage to light. This is also to recognize, nurture, support and promote regional fashion talent annually to the global market through awareness creation and the importance of adaptation of local brands and highlighting Ghana as the next fashion destination which will in turn promote trade boost tourism.

As part of the programme, the National Commission on Culture and Street Fashion Train have linedup activities to be carriedout during the month of March. On the 9th of March (Launching of Wear Ghana MONTH) at National Theatre, 14TH March (Seminar)at National Theatre , 23rd-24thof March (fashion show and exhibition) and on 25th March (Ghana Fashion IndustryHonours/awards) at LA-PALM RoyalBeach hotel, ,2018. The theme for this year’s edition of the Wear Ghana Month is captured as “Wear Ghana to promote the fashion industry in Ghana “.

The itinerary for the program includes: a fashion show, exhibitions of made in Ghana clothes and other fashion accessories at the National theatre, there will alsobe a component of the programme dubbed “the Wear Ghana Challenge (#WEARGHANACHALLENGE) where the general public are expected to take pictures of themselves in their unique made in Ghana clothes and (#)hashtag us on all our social media pages (facebook, Instagram and tweeter-@wearghanamonth)with the name of the designer or beautician to qualify for a special treat and the climax will be an awardsnight dubbed (GHANA FASHION INDUSTRYHONOURS/AWARDS), to reward and honour fashion industry players nationwide who have contributed to the growth of the industry in Ghana.

In line with the above, the National Commission on Culture and Street Fashion Train have decided to dedicate the Wear Ghana Month in honour of the first President of Ghana, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, a Pan Africanist who led us to achieve independence; who wasalso very passionate about our culture and heritage.

The National Commission on Culture and Street Fashion Train appeal to all well- meaning Ghanaians especially the youth to join forces with us to promote the Wear Ghana campaign in the month of March; because by wearing Ghana you are keeping our local textile industries in business,you are also creating more employment opportunities for fashion industry players as well as helping government to generate revenue for development.

Finally,we appeal to Ghanaians throughout the country to wear and use made in Ghana clothes and other accessories that are produced because our culture gives us a unique identity on the globe so be proud of your culture.
