Ghanaians celebrate Easter Monday with family, friends, lovers and well-wishers mostly having fun at the beach.
La Pleasure Beach on Monday was full of activity which created an energetic atmosphere that’s perfect for a real holiday revelling.
The Easter Monday celebrations were joined to the “Year of Return” which took place across Africa to champion pan-Africanism, culture and heritage.
Some people who spoke to GhanaWeb hailed the police for heavy security and a high level of comportment exhibited at the beach.
One of them stated:‘’ I have been here on several occasions and I can attest to the fact that this year looks safer as compared to the past years.’’
Another person also added that ‘’One thing I love about the place is that they have police patrol which initially was not like this. They even have a station at the entrance so I think the police did a very good job this year. You can move without any fear because you know you are safe.’’
President Akufo-Addo mentioned in his State of the nation's address that he had invited African Americans to visit Ghana to commemorate the Year of Return.
The Year of Return marks the 400th anniversary of the arrival of the first Black slaves in the United States of America.
